Dropshipping: 98% Of “Gurus” Are Swindlers!

If you’ve ever searched “how to make money online” on YouTube or social media, you’ve probably come across someone promising to teach you how to make six figures with Dropshipping.

The formula always seems the same: a flashy video thumbnail, a catchy title like “How I Made $10,000 in a Week,” and someone sitting in front of a rented Lamborghini or lounging in a luxury villa.

It’s hard not to be tempted, especially if you’re tired of your 9-to-5 grind or looking for a way to supplement your income.

I don`t want to break your aspirations, but know this first:

98% of these so-called dropshipping "gurus" are nothing but crooks! And yes... They're selling you a dream, not a reality.

Let me explain.

The Dream They Sell You

These so-called "gurus" portray an unrealistically perfect scenario, claiming all you have to do is follow their "secret system.":

  • Find a product on AliExpress.
  • Create a Shopify store.
  • Launch a few Facebook ads.
  • And watch the money roll in...

It’s an irresistible pitch: the idea that with just a few hours of work and minimal investment, you can generate a life-changing income.

They show you screenshots of their "earnings" (always manipulated) and sprinkle in testimonials from supposed students who claim they went from broke to balling overnight.

But here's the reality: running a profitable Dropshipping business is far more complicated than this simplified formula.

Between product research, marketing, customer service and logistics, each step requires time, effort and, above all, money!

And let's not forget the learning curve for advertising platforms like Facebook and Google.

If it were really that easy, everyone would be driving Lamborghinis and sipping mojitos on private beaches, wouldn't they?

The truth is that for every "success story", there are hundreds of people who have tried the same strategies and failed, because the dream sold by these gurus is based on half-truths and carefully selected examples.

The Real Source Of Their Income: Selling Training Courses

Here's the first warning sign: most of these "gurus" don't earn their fortunes from Dropshipping.

Their real cash cow? Selling overpriced courses and mentorship programs to people like you. They charge between $500 and $5,000, promising exclusive secrets that will transform your life.

But guess what? Most of the information they provide is either outdated, recycled or freely available on YouTube.

Think about it: if they really made millions from Dropshipping, would they spend so much time convincing you to buy their training? Exactly...

The Culture Of Fake Luxury

Have you noticed how these gurus flaunt their wealth? They're always displaying photos of luxury cars, private jets and expensive watches.

However, many of these things are either rented, or downright fake. There are even services where you can pay to take photos in a private jet.

And yes, it's all staged.

It's psychological manipulation. They make you believe that you're missing out on an exclusive lifestyle and that their training is the "ticket" to join their elite club...

Don't fall into this trap.

Why their strategies don't work

Even if you buy their training, you'll quickly realize that their "strategies" don't work for everyone.

Why? Because the e-commerce landscape is constantly changing. What worked a year ago may not work today.

What's more, Dropshipping is not a get-rich-quick business model.

It's a business, and like any business, it requires hard work, perseverance and a certain amount of luck.

And let's not forget the fierce competition! When thousands of people buy the same training and follow the same strategies, the market quickly becomes saturated.

This "winning product" they recommend has already been exploited to the hilt by the time you hear about it.

The Legitimate Few

I'm not saying that all Dropshipping experts are crooks. There are a handful of genuine people who offer real value and actionable advice.

But they're rare, and they're not usually the ones shouting the loudest on social networks, because these people are too busy running their Dropshipping businesses.

How to Avoid Falling Into the Trap of a Dropshipping “Guru”

Here are a few tips to help you avoid being ripped off:

  1. ✅ Check their references: Do they really run profitable stores? Ask for proof beyond flashy screenshots.

Real success stories often include clear data, customer testimonials or insights into their journey.

  1. ✅ Beware of limited offers: If they insist on a "limited time offer" or use aggressive sales tactics like "You're going to miss the opportunity of a lifetime!", that's a big red flag!

Legitimate educators don't rely on urgency or fear to sell their knowledge.

  1. ✅ Read reviews: Look for unbiased reviews from people who have completed their training. Consult forums, Reddit or independent platforms rather than relying on testimonials posted on their sales pages.
  1. ✅ Analyze their content: Do they offer free, valuable advice? Real experts often share actionable tips and strategies for free because they really want to help.

If their free content seems superficial or repetitive, their paid content is probably no better.

  1. ✅ Trust your instincts: If something seems fishy, it probably is.

Whether it's an overly glamorous lifestyle or unrealistic promises, listen to your intuition. Scams thrive on removing doubt, so don't ignore it.

What To Do If You Really Want To Drop?

If you're serious about Dropshipping, start small and learn as much as you can from free resources.

Test products, experiment with advertising, and focus on building a brand.

Yes, it's harder than those gurus would have you believe, but it's the only way to create a sustainable business.

Don't underestimate the power of networking either.

Join online communities where real entrepreneurs get together, such as groups on Reddit, forums or Facebook groups dedicated to e-commerce.

These spaces are often brimming with honest discussions, advice and shared experiences that can be far more useful than any overpriced training course.

The appeal of easy online income generation

I totally understand the appeal of making easy money online.

After all, who wouldn’t dream of the freedom to work from anywhere, be your own boss and build lasting financial independence?

It’s a seductive vision, and Dropshipping, while not a silver bullet, can be a legitimate and profitable business model if approached with strategy, discipline and the right mindset.

But let’s be honest: the online world is full of pitfalls. It’s all too easy to be seduced by unrealistic promises, often made by self-proclaimed “gurus”.

This kind of talk can be misleading and lead to disillusionment.

The truth? Success in Dropshipping, as in any business, requires hard work, costly mistakes, and sometimes, sleepless nights.

But it’s precisely this journey that makes the achievement so rewarding.

Now, I’m curious, have you ever been tempted by one of these ‘gurus’? Or worse, have you fallen for one of their scams?

If so, you’re not alone. Many of you have been there. It’s not a shame, but a lesson.

I invite you to share your experience in the comments. Your story could well be the key to helping someone else avoid the same mistakes.
